CNC Programmer/Machinist


CD Staffing is a locally owned and operated staffing firm based in Orlando, Florida with

locations throughout Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee. We currently have an

opening with a large, well-known company in Orlando Area looking for a CNC Programmer


Pay Rate DOE $25-30 an hour – MUST Have 10 years of experience and

MUST have on machines up to 5 axis and SURFCAM Software


POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for programming, setting up, and operating 3-, 4-, and

5-axis CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision production parts, die

components, tooling, fixtures, prototypes, and sample parts according to blueprints, CAD

models, customer specifications, job requirements, and quality standards. Performs CNC

programming, machine setup, tooling selection, machine adjustments, first-piece

development, precision inspection, troubleshooting, and complex machining operations

While supporting both production and tool room manufacturing requirements in a safe,

efficient, and accurate manner.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Program, set up, adjust, and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining equipment

to manufacture precision production parts, die components, tooling, fixtures,

prototypes, and sample parts according to blueprints, CAD models, customer

specifications, job requirements, and quality standards.

2. Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, GD&T requirements, tooling drawings,

job cards, specifications, and work instructions to develop, edit, and optimize CNC

programs using SURFCAM, conversational programming and G & M code while

establishing machining sequences, tooling, offsets, machine parameters, speeds,

feeds, and machining strategies.

3. Select, install, align, and secure tooling, fixtures, vises, work holding devices, and

cutting tools; establish machine reference points, work offsets, and setup

requirements.

4. Perform precision machining operations including milling, boring, drilling, tapping,

reaming, pocketing, profiling, contouring, interpolation, and other machining

processes required to manufacture production parts, tooling, and die components.

5. Prove out new and revised CNC programs by manually cycling machines through

operational sequences to verify tooling, clearances, work holding, machine

movements, feeds, speeds, and machining accuracy prior to production.

6. Inspect first-piece, prototype, sample, tooling, and production parts using precision

measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gages, gage pins, and

surface plate inspection techniques to verify conformance to specifications.

7. Troubleshoot machining processes, CNC programs, tooling, fixtures, work holding,

machine performance, and dimensional issues; make program, tooling, or machine

adjustments to maintain quality, productivity, and equipment performance.

8. Perform routine and preventive machine maintenance on CNC equipment in proper

operating conditions.

9. Record and maintain accurate production information by scanning job cards and

entering data into the ERP system, including start and stop times, production

quantities, scrap quantities, job status, and finished part locations.

10. Actively support a safe work environment by following all safety procedures,

maintaining a clean and organized work area, wearing required personal protective

equipment (PPE), and complying with all company policies and procedures.

11. Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient production and tool room

operations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

12. Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Technical training or

coursework in CNC machining or precision manufacturing preferred.

13. Experience: 10+ years of CNC machining, setup, and programming experience

preferred. • Experience programming, setting up, and operating 3-, 4-, and 5-axis

CNC machining equipment. • Experience using SURFCAM CAM software to

generate and edit CNC programs preferred. • Experience manufacturing production

components, die components, tooling, fixtures, prototypes, and sample parts. •

Experience in short-run manufacturing, precision machining, tool & die, or job shop

environment preferred.

14. Knowledge & Skills: Proficient in conversational programming and machine

programming using G & M code. • Extensive knowledge of CNC machining

processes, tooling, work holding, cutting tools, machining strategies, feeds, and

speeds. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, GD&T requirements,

tooling drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. • Strong

understanding of 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining operations and machining strategies.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot CNC

machining, processes, programs, tooling, work holding, setups, and equipment to

maintain quality and productivity. • Good shop mathematics skills. • Ability to

perform precision inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gages, gage pins,

and surface plate inspection methods. • Ability to perform repetitive work while

maintaining close tolerances and high-quality standards. • Ability to read, write, and

understand English for interpreting blueprints, job cards, work instructions, safety

information, and production documentation. • Effective communication and

teamwork skills. • Safety and quality-oriented mindset.

15. Technical: Basic computer skills including ERP or production management

systems. • Ability to interpret CAD models and electronic manufacturing

documentation. • Experience using SURFCAM software to create, modify, edit, and

optimize CNC machining programs.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

16.Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

17.Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements throughout the shift.

18.Ability to safely handle tooling, dies, materials and finished parts.

19.Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolant,

oil, and moving machinery, tooling, material handling equipment, and varying

temperatures.

20.Must follow all PPE requirements, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and safety

guidelines.

21.Exposure to hazards associated with CNC machining equipment, cutting tools,

tooling, material handling activities, and manufacturing operation


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Manufacturing environment (metal stamping/fabrication);

noise, dust, dirt, oils, fast paced. Hazardous machinery and equipment.


Must be able to complete a Criminal Background check and a Pre-Employment Drug Test.
