CNC Setup Operator
Job Description
CNC Setup Technician & Operator
Build Precision. Solve Problems. Make an Impact.
Are you a hands-on CNC professional who enjoys taking a job from setup to finished part? We’re looking for a CNC Setup Technician & Operator who can bring strong machining skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset to a precision manufacturing environment.
In this role, you’ll work with Haas CNC mills and lathes, setting up jobs, dialing in tooling and offsets, inspecting parts, and making adjustments to keep production running efficiently. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with Engineering and Quality while helping improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and deliver consistently high-quality components.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate Haas CNC mills and lathes, including tooling, fixtures, workholding, offsets, and machine parameters.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and machining instructions.
- Select and install cutting tools based on material, tolerances, and production requirements.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Monitor machining operations and fine-tune tooling, offsets, and machine settings to maintain quality and productivity.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and quality issues and identify effective solutions.
- Enter accurate production, labor, inventory, and job-status information into the ERP system.
- Partner with Engineering and Quality to resolve manufacturing challenges and support production goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce cycle times, minimize waste, and increase efficiency.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and communicate equipment issues requiring repair.
- Help train and support CNC operators and setup personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area while following company, ISO, and quality requirements.
- Communicate production delays, equipment concerns, and work-order issues to leadership.
Why This Opportunity?
This is more than simply loading and running machines. You’ll have the opportunity to own your setups, troubleshoot problems, influence process improvements, and become a key contributor to the production team. If you enjoy working with your hands, solving machining challenges, and seeing a precision part come together from setup to completion, this could be a great next step.
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Experience with Haas equipment strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, and machining processes.
- Ability to use precision inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
