CNC Programmer / Machinist (Mastercam, Haas & Fanuc)

Scotia Engineering, Inc.
Santa Fe Springs, CA, US Full Time
30USD - 50USD per hour

Job Description

Job Description

The Job

You program parts for a project, then you go set them up and run them. Both halves are the job.

Medium to large mill and lathe work on Haas and Fanuc controls. You write the program, verify the tooling, run the first article, and then float between machines keeping parts in tolerance and toolpaths efficient.

This is not a button-pushing role, and it is not a desk job either.

A typical day

  • Set up the first jobs of the shift
  • Write the program, or verify one already written
  • Confirm tool requirements before the job runs
  • Run the job and check the first article
  • Move between multiple machines through the day, watching part quality, tooling condition, and cycle time

What you need

  • Three or more years programming and setting up CNC equipment
  • You have written complete programs yourself, including toolpath generation and post-processing. Mastercam, Fusion 360, or other CAM with knowledge of fundamentals is acceptable.
  • Comfortable on Haas or Fanuc controls. Other controls are fine if you know what you are doing
  • Experience working on a variety of materials (aluminum, stainless steel, other exotics)
  • You can read blueprints and engineering drawings and work from them
  • You can use calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges without someone checking behind you
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

What helps

  • Five or more years of programming and setup
  • Space flight, aerospace, or defense parts on your resume
  • Tight-tolerance work
  • You spot process problems and say something about them

Not a fit if

  • You have only edited programs someone else wrote
  • You want a setup operator to handle everything at the machine while you stay at the workstation
  • You want nothing to do with programming.

Hours and Pay

  • First shift, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Overtime is regular here. Expect 45 to 50 hours most weeks
  • $30 to $50 per hour depending on what you bring
  • Full-time, direct hire, reporting to the Plant Manager

Benefits

  • 401(k) with profit sharing
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Tool allowance
  • Boot allowance
  • Training reimbursement
  • Company work shirts

Physical requirements

Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day. Sitting and standing throughout the shift. Eye and hearing protection, steel toe boots, and safety gloves required.

To apply

Apply through ZipRecruiter. Answer the screening questions. If your resume shows the CAM work you have done and the parts you have run, that is what we are reading for.
