Job Summary

We are seeking a driven Commercial HVAC Sales Estimator to support the growth of Palen Kimball throughout the Twin Cities metro area. This role will focus on developing new business, building strong contractor relationships, identifying commercial HVAC opportunities, and growing our project pipeline.

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical construction, HVAC distribution, equipment sales, estimating, project management, or construction sales, with a strong understanding of the commercial mechanical construction process.


This position will work closely with mechanical and HVAC contractors, general contractors, engineers, architects, and building owners to identify opportunities and develop projects from preconstruction and equipment selection through bidding, award, and completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate new commercial HVAC business and meet sales goals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with HVAC and mechanical contractors, general contractors, engineers, architects, and building owners.
• Identify and pursue new commercial construction, retrofit, replacement, and equipment opportunities.
• Identify projects early in the design, preconstruction, and bidding process.
• Review HVAC plans, drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules to identify sales opportunities.
• Work with contractors, estimators, engineers, manufacturers, and internal teams to develop HVAC solutions.
• Prepare and present quotes, proposals, equipment selections, and project solutions.
• Conduct customer, contractor, and jobsite visits to build relationships and develop new business.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, contractor meetings, networking events, and industry functions.
• Build and maintain a strong network within the commercial HVAC and construction industry.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activity, and project pipeline.
• Track upcoming projects, bids, pricing, equipment availability, and market opportunities.
• Work with estimating, engineering, operations, purchasing, and project management teams to support projects.
• Negotiate pricing and terms while maintaining company margins.
• Identify retrofit, replacement, and equipment upgrade opportunities.
• Participate in sales initiatives and other business development activities as needed.


Skills and Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical construction, HVAC sales, estimating, project management, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of B2B sales or business development experience preferred.
• Strong commercial construction and mechanical industry knowledge.
• Understanding of commercial HVAC systems, equipment, and construction processes.
• Ability to read and understand HVAC plans, drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules.
• Experience working with mechanical/HVAC contractors, general contractors, engineers, or construction managers preferred.
• Commercial HVAC estimating, equipment selection, project management, or field experience is a plus.
• Established relationships within the commercial construction and mechanical industry preferred.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and entrepreneurial.
• Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical customers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License required.


Wages

Base Salary + Commission (Uncapped Earning Potential)


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• Hours typically occur within normal business hours, 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. There will be times that meetings, jobsite visits, walkthroughs, contractor meetings, or networking events may occur outside of these hours.
• This position requires the ability to manage a combination of office, customer, contractor, and jobsite activities throughout the workweek.


Travel
• Frequent driving between customer accounts, construction projects, meetings, jobsites, and walkthroughs will occur throughout a typical workday, in a personal vehicle. You will be reimbursed for business mileage.
