Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Schedule: 3 x 12-hour Night Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, every other weekend
Hours: 36 hours per week

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide high-quality respiratory care to patients in intensive care and general practice units. The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for delivering life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, oxygen therapy, medical gas therapy, and invasive and non-invasive respiratory procedures. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment while collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and provide respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and other prescribed respiratory treatments.
- Manage and monitor patients requiring mechanical ventilation, including ventilator setup, troubleshooting, and adjustments within scope of practice.
- Perform invasive and non-invasive respiratory procedures and diagnostic testing.
- Assist with airway management, emergency response, resuscitation, and life-support procedures.
- Monitor patient response to respiratory treatments and promptly communicate changes in condition to physicians and the healthcare team.
- Perform arterial blood gas collection and interpretation as required.
- Provide care for patients using BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and other respiratory support modalities.
- Participate in rapid response and emergency situations, including Code Blue events.
- Accurately document all patient assessments, treatments, procedures, and responses to therapy.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient billing documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement appropriate respiratory care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding respiratory treatments and equipment.
- Maintain clinical competency and flexibility to work across assigned hospital departments and business units.
- Supervise, direct, and provide guidance to respiratory therapy staff, new employees, externs, and students as assigned.
- Follow all hospital policies, infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
- Associate Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Active Michigan Respiratory Therapist License.
- Active registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current BLS Certification.
- Strong experience providing respiratory care in acute care, ICU, and general patient care settings.
- Excellent clinical assessment, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a high-acuity acute care or ICU environment.
- Experience with mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, emergency respiratory care, and advanced respiratory monitoring.
Schedule & Contract Details
- 13-week contract
- 36 hours per week
- 3 x 12-hour shifts
- Night Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Must meet all current licensure, certification, and experience requirements.
