Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives by supporting learners with diverse needs at a highly specialized school environment near Conover, NC. This contract opportunity is ideal for experienced Special Education Teachers passionate about working with middle and high school students, particularly those with autism and those following an extended content curriculum.

This role covers the 2026-2027 academic year from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, offering weekday hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–3:30 pm, up to 40 hours weekly). The caseload consists of 15–18 students at the middle and high school level, with placements across settings such as adapted curriculum (Discovery School), resource-focused (Third Creek Middle School), and inclusion/resource (West Iredell High School, majority inclusion).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Adapted Curriculum license for teaching special education in North Carolina (required for Discovery School opening)
  • Proven experience teaching students with high-level autism or managing extended content standards
  • Background in resource and inclusion environments at the secondary school level
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, staff, and families
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and empathetic approach to student needs

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student abilities
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure student integration and success
  • Deliver direct instruction and modify curriculum for a range of learning needs
  • Monitor student progress and document performance to inform instruction
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and structured classroom environment
