Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives by supporting their growth and development during a key transition period. This contract opportunity provides coverage for a maternity leave in an elementary school setting, with flexible scheduling for 21-28 hours per week (3-4 days a week) from mid-August through the end of September. You’ll play an important role in helping students in self-contained autism programs maximize their potential by delivering individualized occupational therapy services and collaborating closely with educators and families.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Certification as a COTA or eligibility for certification through the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Active or eligibility for Illinois Occupational Therapist License
  • School-based or pediatric experience preferred
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to support students’ individualized education program (IEP) goals and facilitate meaningful participation in the school environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy interventions in accordance with each student’s IEP
  • Partner with special education teachers, classroom aides, and related service providers
  • Foster functional skill development to promote independence and inclusion
  • Contribute insights and expertise to support student engagement in daily routines
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and track student progress
