Step into a rewarding role this school year by providing essential occupational therapy assistance as part of a dedicated elementary program. This contract opportunity is designed for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide maternity coverage from mid-August to late September. Working onsite, you’ll support students three to four days a week, ensuring their learning environment is both accessible and engaging.

In this position, you will deliver occupational therapy services in alignment with students' IEP goals, focusing on functional skills, participation, and independence. Handling a varied caseload, you’ll collaborate closely with special education professionals and self-contained autism classroom teams. Your expertise will help students achieve their fullest potential within a welcoming school community.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program required
  • Certified, or eligible for certification, by the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association (COTA)
  • Valid or obtainable Illinois State Occupational Therapist License
  • Prior pediatric or school-based occupational therapy experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborative work with educational teams

Role Duties:

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services tailored to students’ IEP objectives
  • Partner with educators and therapists to adapt instructional strategies and environments
  • Support student engagement in classroom routines and functional daily activities
  • Document progress and participate in relevant meetings to help shape student plans
