We are looking for an automotive technician with at least 2 years of professional experience who has a California Smog Inspector License and experience working in a Test & Repair environment.


A California Smog Repair Technician License is strongly preferred, but we are also willing to consider experienced Smog Inspectors who have previously worked in a California Test & Repair shop and are comfortable with general automotive repair.


This is a hands-on position. The job involves both smog-related work and general automotive repair and maintenance. This is not a smog-inspection-only position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of professional automotive repair experience
  • Valid California Smog Inspector License – REQUIRED
  • Experience working in a California Test & Repair facility
  • California Smog Repair Technician License – strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of general automotive repair
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and general repairs
  • Basic diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Own tools
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable, dependable, and team-oriented
  • Willingness to perform all aspects of shop work, including oil changes and routine maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Perform California smog inspections and related repairs
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle problems
  • Perform general automotive repairs and maintenance
  • Perform oil changes, brake work, suspension repairs, cooling system repairs, and other routine services
  • Complete vehicle inspections and document findings
  • Work with service writers and other technicians to complete repairs efficiently
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • California Smog Repair Technician License
  • Experience diagnosing emissions-related problems
  • Experience with Mitchell1 or similar automotive repair software
  • Previous customer service or service writer experience
  • Strong communication skills

We are looking for a solid, dependable technician who is willing to contribute to the entire shop operation. This is an hourly position, and all technicians are expected to participate in the full range of automotive work, including routine maintenance and oil changes.


IMPORTANT: A valid California Smog Inspector License is required. Applicants with a Smog Repair Technician License are strongly preferred. However, experienced Inspector-only technicians will be considered if they have at least 2 years of experience working in a California Test & Repair facility and have solid general automotive repair experience.
