About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to join a growing engineering and construction organization.
This is a hands-on HR role for someone who is comfortable supporting both employees and managers across the full employee lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in employee relations, benefits administration, recruiting, compliance, leave administration, payroll support, and HR systems.
This position will begin on a temp-to-hire basis with the intention of becoming a long-term member of the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers regarding policies, procedures, workplace concerns, and employee relations.
- Handle employee relations matters, including investigations, documentation, corrective action, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and offboarding activities.
- Administer employee benefits and assist employees with benefit-related questions.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment.
- Manage leave administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other applicable leave programs.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work activities.
- Support payroll by maintaining accurate employee information, compensation changes, deductions, and other HR data.
- Maintain personnel files, I-9 documentation, and other required employment records.
- Assist with compliance involving federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Support performance management, employee evaluations, training, and employee development initiatives.
- Maintain records related to employee certifications, licenses, training, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, HRIS administration, and process improvements.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a Senior HR Generalist or comparable hands-on HR role.
- Strong experience with employee relations, workplace investigations, employment law, benefits, leave administration, and HR compliance.
- Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, and the full employee lifecycle.
- Experience supporting payroll and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Strong HRIS and payroll systems experience.
- Experience with Kronos is highly desirable.
- Sage experience is also a plus.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, judgment, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters professionally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- HR experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, commercial HVAC, or another field-based workforce environment.
- Experience supporting employees across multiple locations or project sites.
- Knowledge of workers’ compensation, OSHA-related documentation, and workforce compliance requirements.
