Compliance Analyst

The Compliance Analyst supports the Company's Compliance Management System (CMS) by ensuring mortgage lending and servicing operations comply with applicable federal, state, agency, investor, and company requirements. This role is responsible for monitoring regulatory changes, conducting compliance reviews, supporting regulatory reporting, assisting with audits and examinations, maintaining policies and procedures, and partnering with business units to implement compliant operational and system changes.

Compliance Analyst serves as a key resource to the business partners by helping to translate regulatory requirements into practical business solutions while supporting a strong culture of compliance.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, knowledge of mortgage laws, and the ability to communicate complex compliance issues clearly.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct compliance monitoring, targeted testing, and loan file reviews to evaluate adherence to federal and state regulations, agency requirements, investor guidelines, and company policies.
  • Identify compliance risks, trends, and root causes.
  • Prepare monitoring reports and assist with corrective action planning and follow-up.
  • Identifying systemic compliance issues and help to coordinate corrective action.
  • Assist with preparation, validation, and submission of required regulatory reports, including:
    • Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
    • Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) Mortgage Call Report (MCR)
    • State-required mortgage lending reports and filings
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure reporting accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and records within compliance management systems.
  • Partner with Information Technology and Operations to implement compliance-related changes within the Loan Origination System (MortgageMachine).
  • Review and validate updates to disclosures, forms, document packages, workflows, business rules, and system configurations.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and regression testing for compliance-related system enhancements.
  • Validate regulatory calculations and disclosure updates prior to production deployment.
  • Assist in drafting, maintaining, and updating compliance policies, procedures, job aids, and internal guidance.
  • Work with manager to ensure policies remain aligned with changing regulatory requirements and business operations.
  • Support internal audits, investor reviews, agency reviews, and state and federal regulatory examinations.
  • Coordinate responses to audit and examination requests.
  • Track findings and corrective action plans through completion.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of compliance training for mortgage operations staff.
  • Prepare compliance communications regarding regulatory and policy changes.
  • Serve as a compliance resource for internal business partners.
  • Work closely with Operations, Underwriting, Closing, Secondary Marketing, Product Development, Information Technology, Quality Control, and Legal to ensure operational changes remain compliant.
  • Participate in projects involving new products, new jurisdictions, technology enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent mortgage industry experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of mortgage compliance, quality control, underwriting, operations, or related mortgage lending experience.
  • Working knowledge of federal mortgage regulations, including: TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, FRCA, Flood Insurance, Fair Lending, UDAAP, SAFE Act, AML/BSA.
  • Working knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae requirements.
  • Experience preparing or validating HMDA, Mortgage Call Report (MCR), and state regulatory reporting preferred.
  • Experience with Ncontracts or another Compliance Management System preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Copilot, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations or internal audits.
  • Experience with regulatory change management.
  • Knowledge of complaint management, advertising compliance, and vendor oversight.
