Lead Design Engineer
Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership, setting direction for a team of engineers.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards and requirements of project specifications
- Coordinate team initiatives and ensure timely delivery of high-quality projects.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with the Design Engineering Manager and business stakeholders to refine and deliver the product design.
- Identify technical risks, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure alignment with long-term product strategy.
- Develop a deep understanding of current products.
- Design, develop, and maintain complex engineering components as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Expectations
- •Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering.
- •Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Proven ability to mentor and guide a team of engineers.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, management, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits (AC & DC)
- Working knowledge of basic computer networking
- Working knowledge of CCTV and Access Control Fundamentals
- Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers
- Familiarity with NEC
- Knowledge of UL508a
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong AutoCAD skills
- Ability to multitask
- Strong communication skills with ability to understand and articulate ideas verbally and in writing
Working Conditions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk for at least 50% of the time.
- Be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access office equipment and other
- resources.
- Be able to operate a computer and related software for a prolonged period, and use office
- productivity equipment, such as a calculator, copier, and printer.
- Be able to engage in repetitive motions, such as typing and using a mouse.
- Be able to communicate effectively, conveying information and ideas clearly so others can
- understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these interactions.
- Be able to observe details at close range, e.g. computer screens and printed documents.
- Be able to travel as needed to job sites.
