Overview
We are seeking a skilled Generator Technician to join our team. You will be a 1099 employee .The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining generators and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Prior experience with service, repair, and trouble shooting is desirable. The Generator Technician will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service by delivering timely and effective solutions for generator systems.
The Generator Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of various types of generators across multiple sites. Working independently within a small team, this position involves frequent travel to perform maintenance, repairs, and system diagnostics. The role offers valuable hands-on experience and opportunities for advancement to Lead Technician.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine generator maintenance and preventive upkeep
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical system issues
- Conduct repair work and emergency repairs as needed
- Test equipment to verify proper operation and safety compliance
- Install new generator units and related equipment
- Monitor performance metrics to ensure optimal function
- Travel frequently to multiple sites for service and support
- Diagnose and troubleshoot generator issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and technical manuals
- Perform repairs on diesel engines, electrical components, and mechanical systems of generators
- Conduct routine maintenance to prevent future breakdowns
- Read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams to accurately identify problems
- Perform heavy lifting of equipment parts and components safely during repair procedures
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all work performed
- Assist customers with technical support and provide recommendations for system upgrades or replacements
- Personal truck and tools required
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Generator maintenance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of generator maintenance and electrical systems troubleshooting
- Skilled in preventive maintenance and diagnostic procedures
- Understanding of safety compliance standards
- Strong problem-solving abilities
