Janitor Custodian

Position Summary

The Hospital Janitor/EVS Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention, patient satisfaction, and overall hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
• Perform terminal cleaning after patient discharge
• Handle biohazard waste according to hospital protocols
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors
• Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and sanitizer
• Clean high‐touch surfaces to reduce infection risk
• Follow all safety, infection control, and OSHA guidelines
• Assist with emergency cleaning needs (spills, isolation rooms, etc.)
• Maintain cleaning equipment and report maintenance issues
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other departments
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors

Requirements

• Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or EVS experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 25–40 lbs and stand for long periods
• Comfortable working in a hospital environment
• Ability to follow strict cleaning and infection‐control procedures
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Background check and drug screen required

Preferred Skills

• Experience with hospital or medical facility cleaning
• Knowledge of disinfectants and cleaning chemicals
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in fast‐paced environments
• Good communication and teamwork skills
