Job Description
Position Summary
The Hospital Janitor/EVS Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention, patient satisfaction, and overall hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
- Perform terminal cleaning after patient discharge
- Handle biohazard waste according to hospital protocols
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and sanitizer
- Clean high‐touch surfaces to reduce infection risk
- Follow all safety, infection control, and OSHA guidelines
- Assist with emergency cleaning needs (spills, isolation rooms, etc.)
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report maintenance issues
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other departments
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors
Requirements
- Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or EVS experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 25–40 lbs and stand for long periods
- Comfortable working in a hospital environment
- Ability to follow strict cleaning and infection‐control procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Background check and drug screen required
Preferred Skills
- Experience with hospital or medical facility cleaning
- Knowledge of disinfectants and cleaning chemicals
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in fast‐paced environments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
