Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized VOB & Collections Specialist to support our revenue cycle and patient financial operations. This role is responsible for completing insurance verification of benefits (VOB), reviewing eligibility information, obtaining benefit details, assisting with authorization processes, and supporting collections activities to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with insurance companies, behavioral health benefits, managed care organizations, and patient accounts. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete verification of benefits (VOB) with insurance providers prior to admission and throughout the patient stay
  • Obtain and document insurance eligibility, coverage details, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and benefit limitations
  • Communicate insurance benefit information accurately to admissions and clinical teams
  • Assist with obtaining and tracking authorizations and concurrent review requirements
  • Maintain accurate insurance documentation and records within electronic systems
  • Follow up with insurance companies regarding outstanding information, authorizations, and reimbursement issues
  • Assist with collections efforts, including outstanding balances and account follow-up
  • Communicate professionally with patients and families regarding financial responsibilities when needed
  • Identify billing discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately
  • Collaborate with billing, admissions, utilization review, and leadership teams
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements
  • Perform additional revenue cycle and administrative duties as assigned

Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare administration or related education preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in insurance verification, benefits coordination, medical billing, or collections preferred
  • Behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, or healthcare revenue cycle experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicaid, managed care plans, and authorization processes preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with behavioral health insurance benefits
  • Experience working with payers and insurance portals
  • Understanding of revenue cycle processes
  • Experience with claims, denials, and payment follow-up

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
