Covenant House Incorporated is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our healthcare team. The CMA will support providers and patients by performing clinical and administrative duties while helping ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and other pertinent information.
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens according to established protocols.
  • Perform approved clinical tasks, including injections, phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Schedule appointments and assist with referrals, authorizations, and follow-up care.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain examination rooms, supplies, and equipment in accordance with safety and infection-control standards.
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from a nationally recognized certifying organization.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred/required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain certification within [time period].
  • Previous medical assistant experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard computer applications preferred.
