Onsite in Marietta, GA
C-130J Digitization Engineer to support engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and digital transformation activities for the C-130J program. This role provides hands-on technical support involving 3D CAD model validation, engineering drawing revisions, technical inquiry resolution, tooling and production-part scanning, point-cloud data validation, manufacturing engineering, and tool engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Review and validate 3D CAD models against 2D engineering drawings, modeling standards, and established engineering requirements using CATIA V5
- Identify model discrepancies, document findings, and coordinate required corrections with engineering teams and third-party suppliers
- Review and resolve technical inquiries involving engineering drawings, specifications, digital models, tooling, production requirements, and assembly interference/clash analysis
- Review and revise 2D engineering drawings using CATIA V5 and CCD, incorporating approved configuration changes and ensuring compliance with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and manufacturing requirements
- Coordinate scanning of master control tools, production detail parts, and assemblies and review supplier scanning plans, deliverables, and technical issues
- Validate 3D scan and point-cloud data for accuracy, completeness, and conformity with engineering drawings, tooling requirements, and physical configurations
- Provide manufacturing and tool engineering support for aircraft structures, fabrication, assembly, tooling, prototypes, and production hardware
- Resolve shop-floor engineering issues involving tooling, fabrication, assemblies, drawings, and digital models
- Maintain accurate engineering, tooling, scan-data, resource, and labor documentation in support of C-130J program requirements
Qualifications:
- Experience reading and interpreting 2D engineering drawings, tooling drawings, parts lists, Bills of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing/design specifications
- Proficiency with CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE, including creation and modification of 3D detail-part models and assemblies
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience performing assembly clash, interference, fit, and model-validation analysis
- Experience working in an aircraft manufacturing or production environment
- Knowledge of aircraft fabrication and assembly processes, including machining, sheet-metal fabrication/forming, welding, and mechanical assembly
- Experience designing, evaluating, or updating aircraft tooling, including close-tolerance interfaces, mating features, and critical interchangeable features
- Experience with 3D scanning, point-cloud data, dimensional inspection, or validation of digitally scanned parts, assemblies, and tooling
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies while coordinating effectively with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, production, program leadership, and third-party suppliers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous C-130 or C-130J program experience
- Experience supporting military cargo aircraft or similar large-aircraft manufacturing environments
- Experience converting legacy 2D engineering information into model-based or digital engineering environments
- Experience coordinating engineering activities with external or third-party suppliers
- Experience with digital engineering, product digitization, or model-based engineering initiatives
- Experience with Numerical Control (NC) programming or aircraft master/production tooling
