ISP Logistics is seeking a 1099 Contractor Class A CDL Over-The-Road (OTR) driver transports freight across long distances—often nationwide—living and working out of a semi-truck for weeks at a time. Responsibilities include operating heavy combination vehicles safely, managing electronic logbooks, conducting inspections, and meeting strict delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Long Distances: Haul 53-foot dry van, refrigerated (reefer), flatbed, and step deck trailers across state lines.
  • Perform Inspections: Complete thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip equipment checks.
  • Manage Compliance: Follow federal Hours-of-Service (HOS) rules and maintain electronic logging devices (ELD).
  • Handle Cargo: Secure freight using straps, bars, or chains; perform no-touch freight unload.
  • Communicate: Report delays, route changes, and maintenance issues to dispatch.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • License: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Endorsements and T.W.I.C. are a plus
  • Age: Minimum 21 years old for interstate commerce.
  • Experience: Typically 2 years of verifiable OTR experience.
  • Medical: Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and drug screening.
  • Record: Clean driving record with limited moving violations and no major preventable accidents.
  • Endorsements: Hazmat, tanker, or doubles/triples preferred for specialized freight.

Working Conditions & Compensation

  • Schedule: Out 2 to 4 weeks at a time, flexible willing to accommodate. (if out for 2 consecutive weeks you get 3 consecutive days off, if out 3 weeks or more, you get 4 consecutive days off)
  • Pay Structure: Typically paid by the mile (CPM) 90 day evaluation period pay structure is $1 per mile. After 90 day evaluation period pay bumps to $1.15 per mile. Bonuses for safety and fuel efficiency.
  • Environment: Long hours sitting, driving in all weather conditions, and staying in sleeper berths.
