CDL Semi Driver - Local Forklift Transport

Position Summary

Calumet Lift Truck is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Semi Driver to transport forklifts and material handling equipment to and from customer locations throughout the greater Chicagoland area. This position involves local deliveries and pickups, allowing drivers to return home daily. The ideal candidate will have experience operating tractor-trailers, secure heavy equipment, and providing outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport forklifts and material handling equipment using a semi tractor and trailer.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment using proper tie-down procedures and industry best practices.
• Pick up and deliver customer equipment in a timely and professional manner.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate delivery paperwork, inspection reports, and driver log as required.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, service personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules.
• Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
• Assist with basic equipment preparation and yard organization when not making deliveries. Represent Calumet Lift Truck professionally at all customer locations.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• Current DOT Medical Card
• Minimum of 2 years of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred
• Knowledge of load securement requirements and DOT regulations
• Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts safely
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
