Product Compliance & Regulatory Specialist
Job Description
Well established consumer products company seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Product Compliance & Regulatory Specialist to join our team. Our products span household cleaning, wellness, and personal care categories.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys wearing many hats and taking ownership. You will lead day-to-day product compliance initiatives while working closely with factories, third-party laboratories, suppliers, and internal teams on product development, testing, labeling, documentation, and customer support.
Preference for an in-office position (we are located in downtown Manhattan).
Responsibilities
Develop and review product label content, including claims, warnings, directions, instructions, and other required product information.
Research applicable product compliance and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate product testing with third-party laboratories, including sample submissions, documentation, communication, and tracking results.
Organize, maintain, and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other product compliance documentation.
Manage WERCSmart registrations and related retailer compliance requirements.
Work directly with factories and suppliers to obtain product specifications, formulations, packaging information, testing documentation, certifications, and other required information.
Support new product development and help identify compliance requirements early in the development process.
Assist with import and transportation compliance, including familiarity with DOT hazardous materials and shipping requirements.
Help ensure products have the appropriate documentation and classifications for importation and transportation.
Respond to product-related questions from customer service, sales, operations, and other internal teams.
Help investigate and resolve product issues by coordinating with factories, laboratories, suppliers, and internal teams.
Support additional product development, compliance, and operational projects as needed.
Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, product development, consumer products, or a related field.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable researching requirements and identifying next steps.
Comfortable communicating with factories, suppliers, laboratories, and other external partners.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
