SUPERVISOR - PRODUCTION FABRICATION & MACHINE SHOP

This Supervisor position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of production fabrication and the machine shop, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to safety standards. The role involves managing a medium-sized team, coordinating schedules, and driving continuous process improvements while reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
· Utilizes the Production Schedules in due date order to coordinate workflow scheduling. Exceptions will be communicated by production control or operations manager.
· Direct, coordinate and monitor the daily activities and performance of employees to assure delivery of high productivity, quality, and compliance of company policies, procedures and safety.
· Supervise the use of fabrication equipment such as welders, torches, robotic welders, cranes, grinders, saws, CNC lathes, CNC mills, sand blasters.
· Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and
resolving conflict.
· Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policy.
· Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations.
· Analyze production data to identify and resolve inefficiencies.
· Monitor production processes and equipment to minimize downtime
Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment is properly maintained.
· Review equipment and tools to determine replacement or upgrade needs while improving capabilities and efficiencies.
· Meet production goals, quality and cost objectives.
· Train and mentor employees to enhance skills and productivity.
· Review, correct and approve the daily labor reports for accuracy of work order and hours worked.
· Keep Operations Manager advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments.
· Read and interpret drawings, follow routers and use simple math to perform basic calculations.
· Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
· Participate in the implementation and roll-out of lean principles using 5S methods and tools.
· Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.
· Maintain work area and equipment in clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in production supervision
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Welding Certification with hands-on welding experience
- Proven skills in production management and machine shop operations
- Strong team leadership and communication abilities
- Expertise in quality control and process improvement
- Commitment to safety compliance and problem-solving
