Polishing Technician

FUNCTION SUMMARY:

This job function has the primary responsibility of polishing of medical devices using manual tools, handheld rotary tools, and/or semi-automated equipment. The technician must be experienced and proficient in operating a variety of hand polishing tools, manual polishing apparatus, and knowledge of automatic and/or semi-automatic machines and test equipment., with the goal of safely attaining production, inspection, and quality objectives. The role will be required to follow specific direction from established processes and procedures, under the guidance of Senior Technicians or Engineering staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Set-up, monitor, and maintain equipment used in the polishing process
2. Polishing of medical devices using the Planatome proprietary polishing process
3. Clean and test processed materials for compliance
4. Inspect and measure to verify product and materials conform to specified requirements
5. Manage and maintain production documentation
6. Adhere to company safety practices and procedures
7. Other duties and responsibilities as required
   
   

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Extreme attention to detail

3. Ability to read and understand work instructions and engineering drawings / models
4. Ability to work and communicate well with others within a fast-paced environment
5. Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently with little supervision
6. Working knowledge of basic hand tools and equipment
7. Willingness and capability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
8. Mechanically and/or technically inclined with good problem solving skills

9. Ability to work in diverse environments and with various tools

1. Working knowledge of MS Office software programs including Word and Excel
2. High school diploma or GED certificate; 2yr technical degree or certification in manufacturing engineering is preferred.
3. High priority given for past experience with sharpening and/or polishing of small parts and/or knives, blades, and scissors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Employees must be able to lift 40 lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The working environment is general office, and light manufacturing plant. Daily contact with other employees and vendors is required. This role will require extended hours seated and working under a microscope.
