Residential HVAC Service Technician – 2+ Years Experience
Sign-On Bonus | Year-Round Work | Greater Lafayette Area
Bell Mechanical Services is looking for an experienced Residential HVAC Service Technician to join our team. This is a year-round opportunity for a technician who has at least 2 years of recent, hands-on residential HVAC service experience and can confidently diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems.
IMPORTANT: This is NOT an entry-level or school-only position. Applicants must have at least 2 years of actual, recent field experience servicing residential HVAC systems. Trade school or classroom experience alone does not qualify.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and service residential HVAC systems
- Service and maintain furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, and related equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment cleanings
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and recommend appropriate repairs
- Explain system issues and recommended repairs clearly to homeowners
- Communicate effectively with customers and the dispatch team
- Complete service paperwork and work orders accurately
- Maintain a professional appearance and customer-focused attitude
- Maintain company vehicle and HVAC service tools
- Participate in an on-call rotation for evenings and weekends
- Participate in ongoing technical training
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of recent, hands-on residential HVAC service experience
- Ability to independently diagnose and troubleshoot residential HVAC systems
- Experience servicing residential furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and air handlers
- Must have and maintain the tools necessary to perform residential HVAC service work
- Actual field experience is required — school/trade school experience alone will not count
- EPA Certification required, or ability to obtain shortly after hire
- NATE Certification is a plus
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Physical Requirements
You should be comfortable:
- Lifting up to 75 pounds
- Climbing ladders
- Working in attics and crawlspaces
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
