We are working with a company that has an immediate opening for an Estimator. Mechanical or Electrical estimations preferred.
Responsibilities
- Project estimation — Prepare detailed cost estimates for switchgear, transformers, power panels, control assemblies, and related electrical distribution products.
- Specification review — Analyze customer specifications, one‐lines, schematics, and technical requirements to determine scope and material needs.
- Material & component costing — Identify required components (breakers, relays, bus systems, enclosures, wiring, transformers) and obtain accurate pricing from suppliers.
- Labor estimation — Calculate labor hours for assembly, wiring, testing, and integration based on complexity and build requirements.
- Supplier coordination — Request quotes, verify lead times, and evaluate vendor options for electrical and mechanical components.
- BOM development — Build and maintain Bills of Materials for proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with engineering standards.
- Proposal preparation — Create customer‐ready proposals including pricing, scope descriptions, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Cross‐functional collaboration — Work closely with engineering, sales, and project management to ensure estimates reflect technical requirements and customer expectations.
- Cost tracking — Maintain historical cost data and update pricing models to improve accuracy and competitiveness.
- Risk identification — Flag potential cost, scope, or technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in electrical estimating, electrical manufacturing, or power‐distribution equipment
- Knowledge of switchgear, transformers, power panels, or industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read electrical drawings, one‐lines, schematics, and technical specifications
- Strong understanding of electrical components and industrial power equipment
- Proficiency with estimating tools, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, math, and communication skills
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree or electrical certification preferred
