Veterinarian Technician

The purpose of this position is to improve the quality of patient care by assisting veterinarians to the fullest possible extent.

Technicians at Homestead:

• Understand and believe in the quality of veterinary services provided and convey the value of these services to clients
• Conduct patient assessments
• Assist with surgical procedures and anesthesia
• Help hold/restrain patients
• Capable to hold/restrain a 45lbs patient
• Maintain inventory
• Prepare prescriptions
• Perform routine, in-house lab work
• Maintain a high standard of patient care
• Communicate clearly with veterinarians, other staff and clients to ensure best possible patient care
• Multi-task, think creatively and respond quickly and calmly to emergencies
• Promote a positive work environment, being kind and respectful to everyone at the hospital
• Are able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
• May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases
• Assist customer service representatives with front desk duties as needed
