Nursing Home Litigation Paralegal – Bilingual Spanish

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Home Litigation Paralegal who is bilingual in English and Spanish to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of hands-on litigation experience, preferably representing plaintiffs in nursing home negligence, elder abuse, medical malpractice, or personal injury matters.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing cases throughout all phases of litigation. This position requires someone who can work independently while collaborating closely with attorneys, clients, experts, and other members of the litigation team.
Responsibilities
· Manage nursing home negligence and related litigation matters from intake through trial preparation.
· Communicate effectively with English- and Spanish-speaking clients and families regarding case information, documentation, appointments, and case status.
· Obtain, organize, review, and summarize nursing home, hospital, physician, rehabilitation, and other medical records.
· Review medical records and nursing home charts to identify relevant issues, including falls, pressure injuries/bedsores, medication issues, infections, malnutrition, dehydration, elopement, inadequate supervision, and other potential departures from appropriate care.
· Prepare detailed medical chronologies, case summaries, and damages documentation.
· Assist attorneys with drafting pleadings, bills of particulars, discovery demands and responses, authorizations, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
· Coordinate discovery and maintain case calendars, deadlines, court dates, depositions, and expert schedules.
· Communicate professionally with clients, healthcare providers, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and outside vendors.
· Assist with deposition preparation, including organizing exhibits, medical records, and supporting documentation.
· Assist attorneys with expert review and preparation of materials for medical and nursing experts.
· Track outstanding records, authorizations, discovery responses, and other case-related items.
· Assist with settlement preparation, mediation, and trial preparation.
· Maintain complete and accurate electronic case files and ensure important deadlines and follow-ups are timely addressed.
· Provide attorneys with proactive case updates and identify outstanding issues requiring attention.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience required.
· Fluency in both English and Spanish required.
· Ability to communicate professionally with clients and families in both English and Spanish.
· Experience with nursing home negligence/abuse litigation strongly preferred.
· Plaintiff-side medical malpractice, personal injury, or complex litigation experience will also be considered.
· Strong knowledge of the New York litigation and discovery process.
· Experience reviewing and analyzing voluminous medical records.
· Ability to prepare medical chronologies and organize complex medical evidence.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize assignments and manage multiple active litigation matters and deadlines.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced litigation environment.
· Strong computer skills and experience with electronic case-management and document-management systems.
