Make a meaningful impact as a Mental Health Specialist in an engaging elementary school environment, working with students to support their social-emotional well-being. This contract opportunity runs through the 2025/26 academic year and is ideal for candidates passionate about fostering positive growth among children. You’ll provide individual and group counseling sessions, play an active role in promoting positive behavior interventions, and collaborate with educators to create supportive learning spaces.

Your expertise will be critical in delivering proactive support and professional learning to staff and classrooms as needed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field is required—bachelor’s degrees are not eligible for this position.
  • Current LARA license (or eligibility) as a social worker, psychologist, marriage and family therapist, or professional counselor (master’s level).
  • Credentials may include: full or limited licensure, with appropriate supervision when applicable, or special school counseling endorsements as outlined by MDE.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children or adolescents, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support to individual students and small groups.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of positive behavior programs at a classroom or school-wide level.
  • Offer professional learning to educators and participate in the development of supportive strategies for student success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Adapt to diverse educational environments and contribute to a positive school climate.
