Step into an engaging opportunity to support elementary-aged students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) during a short-term contract covering a maternity leave. This contract position offers a chance to work onsite three to four days per week, from mid-August until late September, at a welcoming school environment near Arlington Heights, IL.

In your role, you’ll deliver occupational therapy services in line with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, support learners in self-contained autism programs, and collaborate closely with educators and therapy professionals. Your expertise will foster essential functional skills and help students confidently participate in school activities.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Certified by, or eligible for certification by, the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association (COTA)
  • State of Illinois Occupational Therapist License required
  • Experience working in pediatric or school-based settings preferred
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Availability to work 21–28 hours per week onsite

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to assigned students according to IEP requirements
  • Partner with special education and classroom teams to design and implement interventions
  • Foster student independence, access to curriculum, and engagement in daily school routines
  • Accurately document treatment, progress, and communications as required
