Job Description
We're hiring a Delivery Driver and Field Computer Installation Tech for our Savannah location. This is a dual role: you drive, and you install. You'll transport computer equipment to schools, district offices, and government sites throughout the Savannah area, then set that equipment up on site and make sure it works before you leave.
You'll rotate between vehicle classes depending on the job — cargo van one day, 16-foot box truck the next, 25-foot box truck for a large school deployment. Deliveries are tracked and confirmed through digital delivery platforms on a handheld or tablet, so you'll be scanning, capturing signatures, and closing out stops electronically as you go.
If you're a dependable driver who is also comfortable putting hands on hardware — unboxing, cabling, imaging checks, basic Windows setup — this is a role where both skills get used every day.
Driving & Deliveries
- Safely operate cargo vans, 16-foot box trucks, and 25-foot box trucks in compliance with traffic laws, DOT guidelines, and company safety policy
- Run deliveries using digital delivery platforms — scan assets, capture proof of delivery and signatures, log exceptions, and close out stops in real time
- Plan and follow efficient routes using GPS and route-planning tools
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and daily inspection logs; report maintenance needs immediately
- Keep the cab and cargo area clean and presentable at customer sites
Loading & Inventory
- Load, stack, and secure computers, monitors, and peripherals using straps, blankets, and padding to prevent transit damage (items typically 35–50 lbs)
- Verify outgoing shipments against packing lists, work orders, and delivery manifests before departure
- Unload and stage equipment at customer sites as directed by the site contact
- Return undelivered items and packaging to the warehouse and report discrepancies
Installation & Technical Setup
- Unbox, assemble, and install desktops, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, carts, and peripherals on site
- Connect equipment to network (Ethernet, Wi-Fi) and power, with clean cable management
- Perform basic Windows setup — initial boot, user account creation, network connectivity verification, system updates
- Install or verify required software and imaging packages as directed by the project lead
- Test hardware and connectivity after install to confirm systems are operational before leaving the site
- Label, tag, and scan installed equipment per company and customer asset-tracking protocols
- Troubleshoot common issues on site (loose connections, boot errors, display problems) and escalate complex issues to technical support
- Remove and dispose of or recycle packaging and old equipment as directed
Customer Site Conduct
- Represent Arey Jones professionally at every school, district, and government location
- Follow all site rules — visitor sign-in, badges, security protocols, restricted areas
- Communicate clearly with site contacts, facility managers, and IT staff on delivery and install status
- Provide basic end-user guidance on newly installed equipment when asked
Requirements
- Proven experience driving cargo vans, 16-foot box trucks, and 25-foot box trucks
- Valid Class C driver's license with a clean driving record and proof of insurance
- Comfortable using digital delivery platforms — handheld/tablet scanning, electronic proof of delivery, route apps
- Able to install computers — unboxing, assembly, cabling, peripheral setup
- Basic IT knowledge is a must — Windows setup, network connectivity, and straightforward hardware troubleshooting
- Able to work overtime as required by project timelines
- Able to lift 35–50 lbs continuously throughout the shift
- Able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check (required for Department of Education sites)
- Reliable transportation to report to our Savannah facility by 7:00 AM daily
- Dependable, punctual, and professional — you'll be working in active school environments
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with K–12 device deployments (Chromebooks, Windows laptops)
- CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent IT coursework
- Imaging, deployment, or asset-management tool experience
- Warehouse, logistics, or last-mile delivery background
- Defensive driving or equipment-handling certifications
Safety
- Adhere to OSHA guidelines, company safety policy, and customer site safety requirements
- Use required PPE, including steel-toed boots and gloves, during loading and unloading
- Practice safe lifting technique and request assistance with heavy or awkward items
- Secure all cargo before transit
- Complete all required safety training
