Industrial Quality Technician
Position Summary
The Industrial Quality Technician is responsible for monitoring and verifying product quality throughout the manufacturing process. This position performs inspections, testing, measurements, documentation, and troubleshooting to ensure products meet established specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and finished-product inspections and testing.
- Verify products meet specifications, drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Conduct dimensional measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects, deviations, and quality concerns.
- Assist production personnel with quality-related questions and problem solving.
- Review production records and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections as required.
- Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends and recurring issues.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
- Support nonconforming-material identification, containment, and disposition.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
- Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment according to established procedures.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures.
- Support continuous-improvement initiatives designed to reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or manufacturing education preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, quality inspection, or a related industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality-control principles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify deviations from specifications.
- Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter and maintain data.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production and management personnel.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality-management systems.
- Familiarity with SPC, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma principles.
- Experience with quality-management or ERP software.
- Ability to perform basic root-cause analysis.
- Previous experience in plastics, metal, automotive, packaging, or other industrial manufacturing environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move inspection materials and samples as required.
- Ability to perform repetitive inspection and measurement tasks.
- Ability to work around manufacturing equipment while following required safety procedures.
Work Environment
This position primarily works in a manufacturing/industrial environment and may be exposed to production machinery, noise, temperature variations, and manufacturing materials. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety procedures must be followed at all times.
