Location: Miami, FL
Salary: $225,000–$435,000
Direct Counsel is seeking a Complex Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join a leading global law firm's Complex Commercial Litigation practice in Miami. This opportunity is ideal for a mid-level associate with at least 3 years of broad-based litigation experience at a top-tier law firm or comparable experience as a federal court judicial clerk.
The successful candidate will handle sophisticated, high-stakes commercial litigation matters in Florida state and federal courts and will have meaningful responsibility across all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, expert development, and trial preparation.
Responsibilities- Represent clients in complex commercial litigation matters in Florida state and federal courts.
- Handle matters through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, expert development, and trial.
- Manage all aspects of discovery in large, high-stakes litigation matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Draft and argue substantive and dispositive motions.
- Assist with the development and preparation of expert witnesses.
- Coordinate litigation matters with clients, attorneys, experts, and other case professionals.
- Manage case deadlines, workstreams, and litigation strategy.
- Work collaboratively with partners and other attorneys on sophisticated commercial disputes.
- J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
- At least 3 years of broad-based general litigation experience at a top-tier law firm or comparable experience as a federal court judicial clerk.
- Experience handling litigation matters in Florida state and federal courts.
- Experience managing litigation through pleadings, motions, discovery, expert development, and trial.
- Significant experience managing discovery in complex, high-stakes cases.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Experience drafting and arguing motions.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional working proficiency in Spanish, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Active Florida Bar admission required.
- Competitive base salary of $225,000–$435,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
