Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional, instructional aide, or relevant classroom support role
- Comfort and skill working 1:1 with students who have a variety of needs
- Ability to follow educator guidance and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) or behavior strategies
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers and school staff
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and adaptability
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certificates in education or special education is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct academic and behavioral support to an assigned student, as guided by classroom teachers and support staff
- Reinforce lesson content, assist with classroom activities, and encourage appropriate participation
- Help monitor student progress, noting accomplishments and areas of growth for reporting purposes
- Offer encouragement and emotional support, nurturing self-esteem and social skills
- Facilitate smooth transitions between activities and routines throughout the school day
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment in accordance with district policies
