Job Description

Make a lasting impact supporting students with visual impairments as a full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic educational setting near The Colony, TX. This fulfilling contract opportunity runs from ASAP through May 27, 2027, and offers a floating position with the potential to serve a diverse student population as caseloads are assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, adapting educational materials to maximize accessibility.
  • Assess students’ needs and collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Teach compensatory skills—including Braille, orientation & mobility (if certified), and utilize assistive technology tools as appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, ensuring an inclusive learning environment.
  • Regularly monitor and document student progress and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of Texas state and district requirements for this discipline.
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to adapting strategies as student needs or caseloads evolve.
