Job Description
Step into a pivotal Special Education role at a dedicated learning center serving elementary through high school students with the most intensive behavioral and disability-related needs. As a full-time Special Education Teacher, you’ll be part of a specialized environment, supporting a Setting 4 caseload where your expertise will make a lasting impact on students’ lives.
This contract opportunity offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, following the academic calendar. You’ll play a significant role from late August through early June, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to foster student growth and resilience. The center delivers highly individualized services, so adaptability, compassion, and strong behavior management skills are essential.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teacher license (only Tier 3 or Tier 4 accepted)
- Demonstrated experience with intensive behavioral and complex needs in a school setting preferred
- Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs aligned with each student’s needs
- Proven collaborator with families, paraprofessionals, and specialists
- Resume must accompany application for consideration
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction for students with severe and varied disabilities
- Adapt curriculum and modify lessons to meet unique academic and behavioral goals
- Lead the development and management of IEPs, progress monitoring, and documentation
- Create safe, structured classrooms that foster trust and growth
- Partner with related service staff to maximize student success
- Maintain clear communication with families and support staff regarding student progress
