Job Description

This contract paraprofessional opportunity is available in the North Kansas City, Missouri area, supporting K-12 students throughout a diverse school district from August 25th to May 28th. You’ll work across multiple educational settings, including specialized SPED classrooms, and provide either 1:1 or general classroom support depending on student needs. Flexibility is key, as placements may shift between elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the year.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Substitute Certification listed on the DESE website or completed ParaPro Exam and transcripts (must be verified before any district interviews)
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students, especially in SPED settings
- Comfort with assisting students with toileting, changing, and behavior management
- Strong collaborative skills to work with teachers, aides, therapists, and other support staff
- Willingness to float between school sites as needed during the contract
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom support and implement behavior and instructional strategies for student success and safety
- Support students’ daily routines with dignity and respect
- Collaborate regularly with multidisciplinary teams to help meet IEP goals and address behavioral or academic challenges
- Follow school policy and accommodate shifting assignments across multiple school sites
Schedules vary by building:
- Middle Schools: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- High Schools: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Elementary Schools: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
