Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Finish Carpenter to join our construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing the final interior details that define the quality and aesthetic of our commercial projects, including corporate offices, retail spaces, healthcare facilities, and hospitality venues. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, specialty hardware installation, and precision trim work, alongside a strong commitment to safety and structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Millwork & Trim Installation: Cut, fit, and install high-grade architectural woodwork, crown molding, baseboards, wainscoting, and custom wall paneling to exact specifications.
- Doors, Frames, & Hardware: Hang and align heavy-duty commercial wood and hollow metal doors; install commercial-grade frames and finish hardware, including panic bars, door closers, kick plates, coordinated locksets, and electronic access components.
- Cabinetry & Fixtures: Assemble, place, and secure custom commercial cabinetry, casework, reception desks, retail cash wraps, and intricate specialty fixtures.
- Blueprint Reading & Layout: Interpret detailed architectural blueprints, shop drawings, finish schedules, and technical specifications to plan layouts and ensure precise execution.
- Surface Preparation & Repair: Inspect, prep, and patch surfaces prior to finish installations; repair or replace damaged wood elements, trim, or laminates as required.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Coordinate seamlessly with project managers, superintendents, and other interior trades (such as drywallers, painters, and electricians) to ensure project timelines are met.
- Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized workspace and operate all hand tools, power tools, and stationary machinery in strict accordance with OSHA regulations and company safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional carpentry experience, with a proven track record specifically within commercial or industrial interior finishing.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of cutting, shaping, and joining materials with high precision; expert proficiency with miter saws, table saws, routers, pneumatic nailers, lasers, and traditional hand tools.
- Knowledge: Robust understanding of commercial building codes, ADA compliance guidelines, and commercial-grade hardware systems.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Strong math skills for accurate tracking of measurements, calculation of angles, and material takeoffs.
- Blueprint Literacy: Demonstrated ability to independently read and extract information from multi-layered architectural blueprints and millwork shop drawings.
- Attributes: Exceptional eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills under tight deadlines, and a collaborative team-player mindset.
- Licensing & Logistics: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation to move between job sites, and ownership of standard professional hand tools.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, and bend for extended periods during a typical shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently.
- Comfort working at heights on scaffolding, staging, or ladders while adhering to fall-protection standards.
