Position OverviewThe Marksman Experience Pistol Instructor delivers advanced training focused on dynamic and competitive handgun application. Unlike static lane shooting, this role specializes in active mechanics, including fast and accurate shooting at multiple targets. The instructor ensures student safety while providing actionable feedback to shooters of varying experience levels.Key ResponsibilitiesProviding instruction to guests and other instructors in all firearms disciplines, with a focus on pistol shooting Ensures range safety and serves as the lead pistol instructor for the Marksman Experience ProgramModel the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactionsMaintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work areaPerform additional duties assigned by SBR leadershipAbide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbookQualificationsMinimum age: 21 years oldRequired: Provide proof of experience in competitive practical shooting (USPSA/IDPA/PCSL) or similar -OR- Able to pass a pistol shooting assessmentWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and hike up to 9 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelinesHousing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55Able to pass a pistol shooting assessmentDesired TraitsHigh emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focusAdaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skillsAbility to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
