Behavioral Health Compliance Auditor
Job Description
LaSante Health Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Compliance Auditor to review behavioral health charts and clinical documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory, billing, and internal standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, knowledgeable about behavioral health documentation, and comfortable providing constructive feedback to clinical staff.
This is an in-person position and may be structured as either full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate's availability and experience.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regular audits of behavioral health charts and clinical documentation
Review progress notes, intake assessments, treatment plans, safety plans, screenings, and related documentation
Identify documentation gaps, trends, and areas requiring follow-up or staff retraining
Prepare clear audit findings and reports for leadership and clinical supervisors
Support corrective action plans related to documentation and compliance findings
Work closely with the Behavioral Health leadership team to improve chart quality and compliance workflows
Assist with internal reviews, mock audits, payer audits, and regulatory audits
Provide professional and constructive feedback to clinical staff regarding documentation requirements
Ensure documentation supports appropriate clinical care, billing, and regulatory standards

Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related behavioral health field required
Acceptable credentials include MSW, MHC-LP, LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC
Experience working in an Article 31/MHOTRS program required
Prior experience in behavioral health chart review, compliance, utilization review, quality assurance, or clinical documentation review strongly preferred
Knowledge of behavioral health documentation standards, treatment planning, progress notes, risk assessments, and safety planning
Experience in a clinic, community health center, FQHC, or similar healthcare setting preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify documentation deficiencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to provide feedback in a professional and constructive manner

Comfortable working with EMR systems and audit tracking tools
Preferred Experience:
Experience reviewing behavioral health charts for compliance
Knowledge of OMH, Medicaid, managed care, or behavioral health billing documentation standards
Experience working with therapists, clinical supervisors, psychiatrists, or multidisciplinary behavioral health teams
Prior quality assurance, utilization review, or compliance experience
