Summary: Cable South Construction is hiring a Fiber Construction Project Manager to run fiber optic construction projects in and around Duluth, MN. You'll own project execution from planning through closeout — managing schedules, budgets, crews, subcontractors, and client relationships to keep builds on time, on budget, and up to code. No degree required — we care about what you've run in the field, not what's on a transcript. You'll be equipped with a company Ford F-350 and hotel covered for travel, so you're set up to run the job, not fight logistics.

Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and manage fiber construction projects from kickoff through completion
- Manage project budgets, track costs, and control scope to protect margins
- Coordinate and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and equipment/material logistics
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, utility partners, and permitting agencies
- Track project milestones, production rates, and footage against schedule
- Ensure all work meets safety standards, local permitting requirements, and utility specifications
- Resolve field issues, utility conflicts, and scheduling delays in real time
- Report project status, risks, and financials to leadership
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience managing fiber optic, telecom, or utility construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and crew management
- Familiarity with permitting, utility locates, and right-of-way processes
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and multiple crews simultaneously
- Strong communication skills — this role interfaces directly with clients and utility partners
- Open to travel
- Valid driver's license
- No degree required
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- PMP or construction management certification
- Prior experience specifically in fiber/broadband construction (vs. general utility construction)
