Position Summary
The Local Director (beginning as Local Coordinator during training) serves as the face of the Greater Richmond chapter and is responsible for developing volunteers, building church partnerships, and leading all ministry operations within the chapter. This role requires a spiritually mature Christian leader with strong relational skills, a passion for evangelizing children, and the ability to mobilize churches and volunteers for ministry.

- Executing and accomplishing the plans and objectives of USA Ministries, the local committee and the state board.

- Through an understanding that the foundation of ministry is prayer by staying committed to developing, implementing, and growing an effective prayer program.
- Promote the ministry in the local chapter with the goal of increasing church partnerships and primary ministries of Good News Clubs and 5-Day Clubs.
- Recruit staff and volunteers, ensuring that they are adequately trained and equipped for ministry.
- Maintain direct ministry contact with children through CEF sponsored programs.
- Build and maintain Christian Youth In Action® (CYIA) ministry. Enlists staff and volunteers to help recruit short-term missionaries. Provide additional ministry opportunities to CYIA missionaries.
- Arrange and help present training such as Kick-Off & Quick Start Training for ASGNC in the fall and Jump Start in February for CYIA and potential CYIA.
- Promote further opportunities to serve-including Short-term Missions and other CEF ministries.
- Participate in the CYIA training school as assigned by the state director.
- Develop with the local committee a strategic plan that comports with the State Board’s plan, and effectively communicates it and oversees its implementation.
- Strive to develop and establish ministry among the children in unreached cities, towns and school districts within the local chapter area.
- Recruit people to do the work of the ministry (both paid and volunteer).
- Meet regularly with the paid and volunteer staff members to provide encouragement, counsel, evaluation of ministry goals and leadership development.
- Encourage the local committee to take advantage of available committee training.
- Work with the local committee and paid staff to raise sufficient funds to accomplish the plans and objectives laid out by the local committee.
- Follow the policies and procedures of the state and national organizations and see that all staff and volunteers are adhering to the policies.
- Complete routine employee appraisals with all paid staff.
- Oversee (and teaches, if necessary) the teacher training program and provide the necessary training for the staff to perform their job well.
- Ensure that all policies and procedures are being followed.
- Keep adequate records.
- Work with the local committee to develop an annual budget for approval by the local committee and submission to the State Board.
- Ensure that all reports, minutes, communications and moneys are forwarded to the proper offices in a timely manner.
- Ensure that receipts and thank-you notes are mailed in a timely manner.
- Communicate accurately and in a timely manner with the state director and local committee. Attend all local directors meetings sponsored by the state office.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the local committee and/or state director.
- Demonstrated love for Jesus Christ and commitment to prayer.
- Passion for reaching children with the Gospel.
- Understanding of how God moves in our midst as He builds the local work one person/one church at a time.
- Experience teaching and evangelizing children biblically.
- Experience discipling, training, and supervising volunteers or staff.
- Be a continual learner, relational, and demonstrate an understanding of how to lead others.
- Love the local church and other Christian organizations and value them as ministry partners.
- Ability to identify leaders, organize groups, cast vision and evaluate the ministry programs.
- Have extensive experience in Biblically teaching and evangelizing children.
- Flawless record in behavior towards children and families.
- Have experience discipling and training staff and volunteers.
- Be an effective teacher willing to lead, coach and correct staff and volunteers.
- At least one year of Bible College or Seminary training, maintaining a good academic performance.
- Commitment to CEF’s Statement of Faith and Ministry Compliance Agreement.
- Intermediate: MS PowerPoint, email communication.
- Basic: MS Publisher, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to use projectors, Blockrockers, and technology used in Good News Clubs.
- Ability to use MailChimp for newsletters to connect with volunteers and provide ministry updates.
