Job Title:

Utility Line Clearance General Foreman

Utility Line Clearance General Foreman oversees multiple tree-trimming and vegetation management crews. They act as the primary operational liaison between field crews, utility company representatives, property owners, and corporate management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Workforce Management:
    • Plan, schedule, and assign daily work orders and equipment to multiple field crews.
    • Conduct field quality checks to ensure pruning meets ANSI A300, ISA standards, and utility customer specifications.
    • Monitor crew productivity, work hours, equipment usage, and progress reporting.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Enforce strict adherence to OSHA regulations, ANSI Z133 standards, and Electrical Hazard Awareness Programs (EHAP).
    • Conduct site safety audits, tailgate meetings, pre-trip vehicle inspections, and accident investigations.
    • Ensure proper work-zone traffic control setup (barricades, signs, flaggers).
  • Customer & Public Relations:
    • Serve as the main point of contact for utility arborists and municipal inspectors.
    • Handle property owner notifications, easement questions, and customer complaints.
  • Equipment & Logistics:
    • Oversee maintenance and safe operation of bucket trucks, chippers, chain saws, and specialized clearing machinery.
    • Ensure equipment receives routine servicing and prompt repairs.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5+ years in utility line clearance work, including prior experience as a Crew Foreman.
  • National Grid & Eversource protocols are preferred.
  • Certifications & Licenses:
    • Valid Driver's License (Class A or B Commercial Driver's License / CDL often preferred/required).
    • EHAP (Electrical Hazard Awareness Program), First Aid, and CPR certifications.
    • ISA Certified Arborist or Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP) is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, knowledge of tree identification/biology, storm-response readiness, and proficiency with digital reporting software/tablets.
