This full-time opportunity is designed for an experienced public accounting professional who excels at leading complex healthcare assurance engagements while mentoring audit teams and building trusted client relationships.The successful candidate will oversee healthcare-focused audit, assurance, and advisory engagements for hospitals, continuing care communities, healthcare organizations, and related entities. This leadership role requires strong technical accounting expertise, engagement management experience, and the ability to provide strategic guidance while maintaining exceptional client service.Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple healthcare assurance engagements, including GAAP audits, compilations, reviews, Yellow Book audits, and write-up services.
- Direct engagement planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation in collaboration with Assurance leadership.
- Evaluate internal control environments and develop risk-based audit programs and engagement plans.
- Review financial statements, disclosures, management letters, audit reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop associate and senior associate team members through coaching, performance feedback, and technical guidance.
- Monitor engagement budgets, identify scope changes, and communicate additional service opportunities to leadership and clients.
- Provide consulting support for entity selection, accounting system implementations, and financial reporting improvements.
- Maintain current knowledge of GAAP, healthcare accounting standards, auditing requirements, and regulatory changes affecting healthcare organizations.
- Partner with firm leadership on business development, client relationship management, networking, and practice growth initiatives.
- Represent the firm professionally while delivering exceptional client service and fostering long-term client relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience with progressive audit and assurance responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and healthcare financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience serving healthcare organizations, continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), or comparable healthcare entities.
- Experience planning, managing, and supervising audit and assurance engagements.
- Strong leadership, project management, communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.
- Experience reviewing financial statements and leading engagement teams.
- Proficiency using accounting, auditing, and engagement management software.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience with HUD compliance engagements.
- Experience preparing or reviewing Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports.
- Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS/Yellow Book) experience.
- Experience performing Single Audits.
- Experience supporting healthcare consulting engagements beyond traditional assurance services.
- Previous involvement in business development and client acquisition initiatives.
- Stable career progression demonstrating increasing leadership within public accounting.
- Possesses at least five years of progressive public accounting experience in audit and assurance.
- Demonstrates strong expertise serving healthcare organizations and continuing care communities.
- Has experience leading engagement planning, staffing, budgeting, and client communications.
- Understands GAAP accounting principles and healthcare financial reporting requirements.
- Successfully supervises audit professionals while mentoring junior staff.
- Maintains strong technical accounting, research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Meets all required qualifications while demonstrating multiple preferred qualifications.
- CPA designation with progressive leadership experience.
- Extensive healthcare assurance engagement experience.
- Strong knowledge of HUD reporting, Medicare/Medicaid Cost Reporting, and Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
- Experience performing Single Audits.
- Proven ability to develop long-term healthcare client relationships.
- Success mentoring high-performing assurance teams while contributing to firm growth.
- Stable employment history demonstrating increasing leadership within public accounting.
