The Cardiovascular Center of Florida is seeking an experienced and patient-focused Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our growing cardiovascular team. This position plays a vital role in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease through the performance of high-quality nuclear imaging procedures in a fast-paced outpatient cardiology environment.

Position Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, including cardiac stress testing and myocardial perfusion imaging, utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and advanced imaging equipment. This role works closely with cardiologists, stress laboratory staff, and clinical personnel to ensure optimal patient outcomes and imaging quality.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols
  • Conduct myocardial perfusion imaging (Nuclear Stress Testing) using exercise and pharmacological stress agents
  • Prepare, administer, and document radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Operate and maintain SPECT and PET imaging equipment as applicable
  • Ensure proper patient preparation, education, positioning, and monitoring throughout procedures
  • Monitor patients during stress testing procedures and recognize signs of adverse reactions or medical emergencies
  • Obtain and document patient histories, medications, allergies, and relevant clinical information
  • Process, review, and archive diagnostic images to ensure optimal quality and accuracy
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and maintain compliance with state, federal, OSHA, HIPAA, and NRC regulations
  • Perform quality assurance testing and equipment checks as required
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic services
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record system

Experience

Requirements:

Qualifications Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • Current certification through one of the following:
  • ARRT (N) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Nuclear Medicine)
  • CNMT – Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through NMTCB
  • Active Florida State Nuclear Medicine Technologist License (if applicable)
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures, radiation safety practices, and cardiovascular imaging protocols
  • Strong patient assessment and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail

Experience:

  • Nuclear medicine: 1 year (Required)
  • Cardiology: 1 year (Required)

Preferred

  • Experience performing nuclear cardiology studies and myocardial perfusion imaging
  • Familiarity with SPECT and PET imaging systems
  • ACLS Certification
  • Experience with electronic medical records and imaging software systems
