Growing family medical practice in Lancaster, SC. We provide preventative care as well as management of chronic illnesses for patients of all ages. We are expanding our team and are looking forward to bringing on motivated, professional individuals - including a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant to support our patients including pediatrics.


Position Summary

The Pediatric CMA/RMA aids our medical providers by performing administrative duties and basic clinical tasks within the scope of their training, with a focus on the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families. This role has no direct reports.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and families in a friendly, professional manner; verify patient information by interviewing the patient/caregiver, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit according to protocol.
  • Record vital signs and prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including taking blood pressure, weight, height, and temperature, and reporting a patient history summary according to protocol.
  • Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests within the scope of licensing, including CLIA-waived tests and phlebotomy.
  • Perform general lab duties and follow up with patients regarding questions, prescription refill requests, and lab results.
  • Arrange for hospital admissions and specialist referrals.
  • Refer and route prescriptions to the pharmacy, including coordination with our private 340B pharmacy at the Lancaster location.
  • Counsel patients and families by communicating the provider's instructions and assisting with patient education.
  • Assist the healthcare provider with pediatric visits, minor procedures, and minor surgery, including set-up.
  • Responsible for the care and handling of disposable and reusable instruments.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following established standards, procedures, and regulations.
  • Keep supplies stocked by inventorying, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and ongoing training.
  • Attend outside events such as health fairs and marketing events, which may include occasional weekends.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours and complete necessary work before the end of the shift.
  • Report unsafe practices or disruptive behavior to a supervisor.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and graduate of a certified formal Medical Assistant training program.
  • Current certification (CMA or RMA) in accordance with South Carolina law.
  • Experience in pediatrics preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of general medical, administrative, and clinical medical assisting practices.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, including proper grammar and spelling, with the ability to interact warmly with children and parents.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
