Job Description
Job Title: Modeling and Simulation EngineerJob Position Overview
Synovix is seeking two experienced Modeling and Simulation Engineers to support an on-site missile and weapon systems program for a defense customer in Northridge, California. The engineers will build, integrate, verify, and apply high-fidelity digital models and simulations used for design trades, performance prediction, algorithm development, and qualification evidence.
What You Will Do- Develop and maintain high-fidelity MATLAB/Simulink models and simulations for missile and weapon system design and performance analysis.
- Model and integrate six-degree-of-freedom vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, actuators, sensors, environments, threats, targets, and subsystem interfaces.
- Plan and execute deterministic studies, design-of-experiments activities, sensitivity analyses, and Monte Carlo campaigns.
- Verify and validate model behavior against requirements, analytical results, or test data. Integrate simulations with GNC, embedded software, and SIL/PIL/HIL environments.
- Define simulation architecture, model governance, verification strategy, technical roadmaps, and cross-team integration approaches.
- At least 8 years of relevant modeling, simulation, system performance, flight dynamics, or controls experience.
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Advanced MATLAB and Simulink experience developing dynamic models, analysis tools, or closed-loop simulations.
- Experience with model integration, interface definition, numerical analysis, verification, validation, and configuration management.
- Ability to reduce simulation results into defensible technical conclusions, reports, and review material.
- Ability to work full-time on site in Northridge, California.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a U.S. government security clearance if required by the program; an active clearance is not required at hire.
- Missile, guided weapon, flight vehicle, interceptor, seeker, or other aerospace/defense modeling experience.
- Experience with six-degree-of-freedom architecture, Monte Carlo infrastructure, model correlation, and uncertainty characterization.
- Stateflow, Aerospace Blockset, Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder, or related MathWorks tool experience.
- Working knowledge of C/C++, Python, Linux, data pipelines, and simulation automation.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering, requirements traceability, or digital engineering environments.
- Experience supporting software-in-the-loop, processor-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, laboratory, ground, or flight test activities.
