Position Summary

The Unit Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of an assigned unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care, supervising nursing staff, and promoting regulatory compliance and operational excellence. This role serves as a key leader within the nursing team and works closely with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise, and support nursing staff providing direct resident care.

  • Ensure high standards of clinical practice and quality outcomes on the assigned unit.

  • Participate in staff coaching, education, and professional development.

  • Complete and maintain accurate resident assessments, documentation, and care plans.

  • Monitor resident conditions and coordinate appropriate interventions.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized care plans.

  • Supervise and support Clinical Nurses, Licensed Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants.

  • Coordinate staffing schedules to maintain appropriate unit coverage.

  • Monitor compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to address concerns and promote resident satisfaction.

  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of nursing team members.

  • Serve as a preceptor and complete required Preceptor Training.

  • Identify opportunities to improve clinical processes, resident outcomes, and team performance.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, compassion, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

QualificationsRequired
  • Current, active, and unencumbered RN or LPN license in the state of practice.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing leadership, supervisory, or management experience.

  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lead teams effectively and foster a positive work environment.

Preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of nursing experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or similar healthcare setting.

  • Experience managing staff schedules, regulatory compliance, and resident care outcomes.
