Location: Newport News, Virginia
Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $15.00–$17.00 per hour
Scheduled Hours: Up to 32 hours per week
AuhVee Behavioral Health, LLC is seeking dependable, compassionate, and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Newport News, Virginia.
As a Direct Support Professional, you will help individuals maintain their safety, independence, dignity, and overall quality of life while supporting progress toward their individualized service-plan goals.

Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide direct supervision, guidance, and person-centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Assist individuals with daily living activities, personal development, skill building, and individualized service-plan goals.
Promote a safe, stable, respectful, and positive living environment.
Support individuals during community activities, appointments, and scheduled outings.
Observe and promptly report behavioral, physical, medical, or emotional changes in accordance with company procedures.
Complete progress notes, incident reports, service-plan data, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
Participate in required staff meetings, training sessions, and individual activities.
Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, service plans, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
Protect individuals from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of mistreatment.
Perform other related duties consistent with the needs of the individuals served and the responsibilities of the position.
High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of relevant experience supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive in changing or unpredictable situations.
Dependable attendance and the ability to work assigned shifts.
Reliable transportation to assigned work locations.
Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet applicable driving requirements when driving is an essential function of the position.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Willingness and ability to complete all required training and certifications, including CPR, first aid, behavior management, and medication administration.
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all screenings and checks required by applicable federal and Virginia laws, DBHDS regulations, licensing requirements, and company policy. These may include:
Fingerprint-based criminal history background check.
Virginia Department of Social Services Central Registry check.
Driving-record verification when driving is required.
Verification of education, employment history, credentials, and required certifications.
Any additional screening required for the position or the services provided.
Applicants must be available for one of the following scheduling arrangements, based on staffing and program needs:
Every other weekend; or
Tuesday through Saturday.
Available shifts may include:
8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
2:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
Specific schedules and weekly hours may vary depending on program and staffing needs.
