Job Description
The Packer is responsible for safely and efficiently packing finished products according to established production, packaging, and quality specifications. This position works as part of a production team and supports the efficient operation of the production line by maintaining accurate counts, inspecting products and packaging materials, removing defective products, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.The Packer must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, follow established procedures, maintain consistent quality standards, and work cooperatively with other production team members.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESPack finished products into the appropriate boxes, containers, cases, or other packaging materials according to established specifications.Operate and monitor basic packaging equipment and production-line equipment as trained and authorized.Accurately count products and packaging materials to ensure the correct quantity is packaged according to product specifications.Inspect finished products and packaging materials for quality, appearance, labeling, damage, or other conditions that do not meet established standards.Identify and remove defective or non-conforming products and materials and place them in the designated area.Assemble boxes, cases, cartons, and other packaging materials as required.Apply labels, lot codes, date codes, or other required identification accurately and verify that information is correct.Assist with production line changeovers, start-ups, shutdowns, and cleaning activities as directed.Monitor the supply of packaging materials and notify the appropriate team member when additional materials are needed.Assist Quality Control personnel with inspections, sampling, or other quality-related activities as needed.Complete required production, quality, safety, or other documentation accurately and timely.Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area throughout the shift and participate in required housekeeping and sanitation activities.Properly handle products, raw materials, packaging materials, and equipment to prevent damage, contamination, or waste.Immediately report equipment problems, product quality concerns, safety hazards, spills, or other unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor.Work cooperatively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other personnel to support production goals.Maintain good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail while performing repetitive packaging tasks.Maintain regular and reliable attendance and report to work prepared to perform assigned duties.Perform other work-related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Experience:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous manufacturing, production, packaging, warehouse, or related experience preferred but not required.Ability to learn and follow written and verbal instructions.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.Ability to accurately count, inspect, and package products.Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.Ability to follow established procedures and safety requirements.Ability to work independently as well as effectively with a team.Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONSAbility to stand and walk for extended periods, including up to 10 hours during a work shift.Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand and arm movements.Ability to use both hands to handle and package products and materials.Ability to regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds.Ability to work around production equipment, moving machinery, and conveyor systems while following all required safety procedures.May be exposed to dust, fragrances, chemicals, heat, noise, and other conditions commonly associated with a manufacturing and production environment.Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable to the assigned work area.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.SAFETY AND QUALITY EXPECTATIONSAll employees are expected to prioritize safety and product quality while performing their duties. The Packer must follow all applicable safety rules, GMP requirements, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements. Employees are expected to immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, quality concerns, equipment problems, or other issues that could affect employees, products, or production.WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production facility. The employee may work near operating machinery, conveyors, production lines, and other industrial equipment. The work environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, fragrances, chemicals, and repetitive production activities. Employees are required to follow all applicable safety procedures and wear PPE appropriate to the assigned work area and job duties.
