Outside Sales Representative
Mission for the Role:
Build long-term customer relationships, responsibly grow the assigned territory, and create value for customers by representing Russell Forest Products with respect, product knowledge, accountability, and dependable service.
Outcomes (12–18 Months)
· Grow an assigned sales territory by developing new and existing customer relationships.
· Build relationships with multiple people within customer accounts.
· Sell the full Russell Forest Products product line across all branches.
· Consistently identify customer needs by visiting customer yards, warehouses, shops, and offices.
· Participate in regular sales meetings, coaching, and accountability discussions.
· Represent the company in a professional manner that reinforces its reputation and core values.
· Work collaboratively with inside sales, operations, trucking, purchasing, accounting, and management.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop new and existing customer accounts.
· Build relationships with multiple contacts within each customer account.
· Visit customer locations to understand inventory, purchasing habits, and business needs.
· Sell commodity lumber, plywood, engineered wood products, specialty wood products, MDF mouldings, panels, and related products.
· Identify opportunities to sell additional products across the company's product line.
· Explain pricing, supply issues, delivery issues, and product options professionally.
· Follow up with customers and communicate clearly throughout the sales process.
· Collect past-due money from customers when necessary.
· Participate in monthly sales meetings.
· Report to the office as needed for training or to fill an inside sales role.

Compensation & Benefits
Commission
· Commission is paid on fully collected sales where invoices are fully paid while the employee is employed in the current job title.
· Commission payments are made with the first payment cycle of the month following collection.
· Employees become eligible to earn commissions each calendar month after total commission amounts exceed 1/12 of the annual base salary.
