We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging programs and events that enrich the lives of residents in a senior living community. Responsibilities
Develop and implement diverse activity programs that promote socialization, mental stimulation, physical activity, and overall wellness for residents.
Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, themed activities, and recreational therapy sessions to foster community engagement.
Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, histories, and individual needs to personalize activities effectively.
Collaborate with staff members across departments to ensure activities align with care plans and resident capabilities.
Manage schedules for activities and events, ensuring timely preparation and smooth execution.
Maintain accurate records of participation, resident feedback, and program outcomes to continually improve offerings.
Communicate regularly with residents’ families and healthcare teams to ensure activities support overall care goals.
Skills
Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or long-term care settings.
Strong background in senior care, geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, or memory care programs.
Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and program development tailored for geriatric populations.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with seniors and their families effectively.
Demonstrated ability to build resident rapport through compassionate engagement and personalized attention.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and communication purposes.
Leadership skills to coordinate team efforts and oversee volunteers or staff involved in activities.
Experience working with individuals with special needs within a skilled nursing environment.
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, two (2) year(s) of college. Degree preferred but not necessary.
Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed by the state and is eligible for certification as a recreation specialist or as an activity professional; or
Must have, as a minimum, two (2) year(s) experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or

Must be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or
Must have completed a training course approved by the state.
